2023 MTD Basketball Tournament Recap

 

On August 19th, 2023, hundreds of people came through to Dugger Park to watch eight teams filled with high level college talent battle for the vacant throne. Last year's first annual MTD Basketball Tournament was truncated due to a spontaneous pop-up storm, so no champion was crowned. This year it came down to the wire, but the Green Squad went through a gauntlet, and came away with the title. Their team (left to right) consisted of Kahleb Downing, Colin McNamara, Logan O’Donnell, Duaka Ekwensi, Keyshaad Dixon, Andrew Lufkin, Alex Dubrow and Mikey Maher.

The tournament was a non-profit event, with all proceeds going towards a college scholarship fund for all college students to apply for this Fall. Last year we were able to raise enough money for two separate $1500 scholarships. We are excited to make an impact this year with our scholarship fund and for many years to come. 

A huge sponsor to the lead sponsors of our event which include, Gold Standard Hoops, Menotomy Grill and Tavern, Brunt Workwear and A Shot for Life. They were paramount to making this event so successful and they all align with our mission at MTD.

We want to thank everyone for contributing to making it such a special day. All the players, the refs, the scorekeepers, the aux coordinator, the merch table workers, food stand workers and so many more. The basketball was terrific and the rapport was palpable. 

Lastly, Shoutout to the people who still SUPPORT and BELIEVE IN US. The loyalty will pay off. We have momentum we’ve never had before.
